I’m using this pic by Robert Crumb because I can’t find a better illustration for my latest compilation. The Otis Brothers are in fact two fine blues interpreters, as this video clearly demonstrates.
Robert Crumb, as well as being a noted cartoonist, is a noted collector of 78rpm records with a particular interest in blues, country, bluegrass, cajun, French Bal-musette, jazz, big band and swing music from the 1920s and 1930s. He has also recorded albums with His Cheap Suit Serenaders with songs from, and in the style of, the 1920s.
However, none of the tracks on my compilation have any of the authenticity or integrity of his fine work. Although my chosen adjective is ‘crap’, you’re still invited to sing along.
