It’s the 5th day of the 5th month, which means it’s my sister’s birthday.
She lives in the UK, and we haven’t seen each other for some 20 years which means I have little idea of her taste in music. Also, that she’s not computer literate means that whatever I post here is unlikely to reach her ears.
So why, you may ask, this compilation?
It’s a reminder to me to not forget to say – somehow – Happy Birthday, Sue.
David Byrne – Five Golden Sections
David Sylvian – Five Lines
John Kongos – I Wish I Was Five
Mamman Sani – Five Hundred Miles
Phillip Glass – Metamorphosis Five
Richard Sinclair – Five Go Wild
Robbie Robertson – Obviously Five Believers
Ry Cooder – Five Mile Road
Sachal Studios Orchestra – Take Five
Terry Riley – Concert For Two Pianists And Five Tape Recorders
Enjoy … if you can.
Note: the above tracks cannot be ‘programmed’ in any other than alphabetical order. Selecting those tracks which came into view after typing ‘five’ in the search box of my music folder offered no genre or theme: just a random weirdness which could well be the soundtrack to an avant-garde movie only played at fringe festivals.
